New BCBSMT headquarters expected to be complete by end of 2016
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) has eagerly watched the progress as construction on its new headquarters takes shape.
The new headquarters is being built on the Mountain View Meadows property in Helena that BCBSMT purchased in 2012. A single building will allow BCBSMT to better serve its members by bringing all its nearly 480 Helena-based employees under one roof and eliminating the cost of operating two buildings.
“Our new headquarters will cement our long-term presence in Helena and fulfill our commitment to our employees who, along with their families, live here,” said BCBSMT President Mike Frank. “It also demonstrates our commitment to Montana, as evidenced by the creation of 130 new jobs at our provider service center in Great Falls and our six district offices spread across Big Sky Country.
BCBSMT selected Schlenker & McKittrick Architects, P.C., and Dick Anderson Construction—two well-respected Helena-based firms—to design and build the new headquarters. Several Montana-based subcontractors are also contributing to the job.
The building will be LEED-certified and will sport a campus-style facility with a focus on wellness, natural light and a positive work environment to prepare for the work force of the future. Construction began in early 2015, and the new headquarters is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.
“We are thrilled to construct a new building that fulfills our long-term headquarters solution,” Frank said. “This is an exciting time—one that we have looked forward to for many years.”
